But when Jacinda’s rebelliousness leads her family to flee into the human world, she struggles to adapt, even as her draki spirit fades. The one thing that revives it is Will, whose family hunts her kind. Jacinda can’t resist getting closer to him, even though she knows she’s risking not only her life but the draki’s most closely guarded secret
I've never been a big fan of dragon stories, but I really enjoyed this book! It was a fresh take on dragons from anything (that I've at least read) involving them. I read it all in one sitting and I really can't wait until I can get my hands on the next one.
I really liked the writing style that Sophie Jordan uses. It's clean, descriptive, and flowing. The story kept me intrigued the whole time and I enjoyed the character interaction.
I especially liked the relationship between Jacinda and her twin sister, Tamra. I'm a twin myself (along with having 5 more sisters and honestly the relationship b/w a twin and another sister really is a little different) Anyway, I felt as if Sophie really captured the relationship between the twins sisters-who are both vying to be their own person and to be accepted as such. They didn't always get along--especially since they both felt trapped in who they were because of something, at one point or another, to do with the other--yet there was still always that underlying love between them. Perfect.
The relationship between Will and Jacinda was strained, confusing, and magnetic. They couldn't seem to stay away from each other even though they knew they should have. I loved a lot of the interaction between them. I also liked how it wasn't just that Jacinda swooned at the first cute boy she saw, but that part of why she was drawn to him had been b/c he saved her even when he didn't know it was her.
All in all, the book was terrific. There were parts that had me feeling all gooey and heartwarming, parts that had me laughing, and parts that had me trying not to skip my eyes ahead b/c I couldn't read it fast enough! I'd recommend this book to anyone that loves YA paranormal. Also, I defy anyone to not love this cover! It's beautiful. I would have picked this book up based on the cover alone.
