Tumblr

I know it has been SO VERY LONG since I've been on here or posted anything, but, well, life has been so wonderfully busy for me. My little baby is getting bigger, revisions are done, other writing projects are being finished, and new ones started.

But I wanted to say, to anyone who is still actually following me and this blog, that I will be taking a break (an announced break, that is) from this blog. BUT! I have tumblr and I love tumblr! So, I'd love it if any of you would like to follow me on there instead. I use it MUCH more often and even have an 'ask me' section! So, lovely followers, if you want to follow my tumblr at all then the link is:

But be warned, tumblr can suck you in and never let go! lol. It only took me a couple of day on there to realize how addicted I was to it. :)

And now I should get back to writing, like the Doctor says.

Life Update.

Hey everyone. I know it's been a loooong time since I've posted anything. Life has kinda been busy lately.

First, I started (and finished) a round of revisions on my sci-fi manuscript and send them back to my agent. I'm patiently (and not-so-patiently) waiting for a response about that now. (And hoping she loves the changes lol.)

Second, I taught summer school and that kept me pretty busy, especially at nine months pregnant. I was pretty tired almost everyday after work, but thankfully summer school is over now and I get a break from work for a while because....

Third, I had my sweet little baby! After 39 hours from my water breaking to delivery (that ended in an emergency c-section), I got to meet my little girl! Delivery was not at all what I had planned and hoped for--I wanted this natural unmedicated birth--but even though everything basically went the opposite of what I had hoped for, I'm so happy to have a healthy and beautiful little girl.

Want to see some pictures? Doesn't matter! I'm gonna post them anyway because I just wanna share the adorableness of my little baby!

Photoshoot with Daddy.

And another one from Daddy's photoshoot! Look at the little fluffy butt skirt!

First few days, still in the hospital.

And one of mommy and lil nugget!

So that's been my life lately, busy and beautiful! Sorry I haven't update much in the last few months, but I'm hoping to do better in the future!

What have all of you been up to? Any amazing summer stories or anything you want to share? I'd love to hear what you guys have been up to!

Making it a habit (and cheating)

Okay, so I haven't posted anything in a while and I'm actually kind of cheating with this post. I wrote a post up over at my other collaborative blog Tangled (link in the sidebar!) and I'm going to basically use the same post. (Shame on me, I know! But I'll explain why I've been absent lately and even add pictures to this post!)

At Tangled we're doing free topics and I'd thought I'd talk about writing as a habit and I've been wanting to talk about it here too, so you both get it! I've wanted to talk about writing as a habit, because lately, I've fallen out of the habit of writing and I don't like it.

It's not that I'm "waiting for inspiration" or anything like that because if I only wrote when inspiration struck me then, honestly, I wouldn't write all that much. Because writing is hard. Like really hard sometimes.

Instead, life has kinda of gotten in the way of writing for me lately. Amazing and great things have happened, so I'm definitely not complaining about that! Since the hubby and I are expecting our first baby in August, we've both been busy preparing and all that. I've been exhausted from the pregnancy up until recently. I've gone out of town to visit family. Other family has come into to town to visit. Work is always there. So, yeah, lots of things have been keeping me busy.

And I've neglected my writing because of it. That's not to say I haven't done anything though. I worked up an outline of revision stuff for my agent and have started on them. I've added a chapter here and there to my current WiP, but nothing consistent and I'm discontent because of it.

In the moments of downtime and quiet, I'm bored or discontent. It's even effected my reading. I've been reading less, even when I have the time. I've just started picking up some MSs and books again lately. But in those moments of extra time that are rarer than ever for me right now, I don't immediately go to writing. I decide sleep is nice (b/c ppl love to tell me how I'll never sleep again after this little baby comes!), or I just want to relax and watch T.V. or something like that.

But I've come to realize that I'm one of those people that need to make a habit or writing if I want to make it a priority. I'll put if off because it's hard work, even though I love writing. Once I actually sit down, I remember how much I love writing and why I started and how wonderful it is to weave sentences together into a story all it's own. I love writing.

So why can't I remember that during the times when I take a week off? Because somehow during that week, I forget and one week turns into two into a month and so on of un-fulfilling and sporadic writing.

And this is why I need to make writing a habit. Always. That doesn't mean I can't take a vacation or anything, but I need to learn to make writing a habit again each time I take time off. And that's what I'm doing now. I'm making it a habit. I've set a new writing goal for myself and I plan on sticking to it. I'm working on writing, even a little bit, everyday now. I can't wait for when I'm not tired or distracted or for the mood to hit me. That's not how I work, b/c I'd never get anything done that way.

What about you? Is writing a habit for you? Do you fall out of the habit and push writing aside like I have? Or can you keep up with wanting to write even if it's sporadic?

Either way, I hope you all are having a great day and get to create lots of wonderful words today!

And now pictures! (Of what *has* been keeping me busy! lol And yes, they are baby related!)

During my absence on here, the hubby and I found out the sex of our little baby and I worked on the nursery. Have a look!)

Yes, we're nerds, but we're okay with it :)

And look at that perfect little baby girl! <3 already="" in="" love.="" p="">

This is the horrendous before picture of the nursery. JUST LOOK AT THAT PANELING! You wouldn't believe it, but this same paneling was in the basement of the house I grew up in and (pictured here) in the basement of the house Hubby grew up in also. Weird.

And here is our nursery after! So much brighter looking! (Yes, her name is Corinne. I love it.) It's not completely done, but getting closer! (And that dresser definitely needs to be repainted!)

So there are my (cute) baby pics of what has kept me busy from writing lately. Now, back writing as a habit! Have a wonderful day, lovelies!

Super Exciting and Awesome News!

I have some pretty awesome news I want to share (or shout!) to all of you. Excuse all the exclamations that will be used in the post. Excitement abounds!!

I am thrilled to announce that I have an agent! Can I say that again? I have an agent!! And a REALLY AWESOME one at that!!~

I have signed with Agent Fury!

No, no, no, sillies. Not that Fury. This one!

(See? Much prettier and she has an awesome accent too!)

Mrs. Louise Fury works with the L. Perkins Agency! Check out her twitter and her website! I'm ecstatic to be working with her and believe that we are an awesome fit!

So, how did it happen??

Well, honestly it wouldn't have happened if it weren't for twitter. This is only part of why I am a HUGE fan of writers getting out there and being active on sites like twitter, community websites, blogs, ect.

One night, Louise posted on twitter about wanting a sci-fi manuscript with spaceships. (A friend also forward this tweet to me in case I missed it. Writer friends are awesome.) Naturally, I tweeted back saying I had such a manuscript and asked if I could query Mrs. Fury (she was closed to queries then). She said yes, and off I sent it!

After some waiting and much nail biting, she requested the full! So after even more nail biting and some tentative excitement and a bit more waiting, Louise emailed me asking if we could talk on the phone! She mentioned she was interested in doing revisions on my manuscript if I would be open to them and we could discuss her ideas then.

The day for our phone call came and I can't even begin to tell you how nervous I was!!

I was worried my nerves would make me talk too fast or mumble or I'd drop the phone. And at this point I had no idea if she would offer me representation or just wanted to feel me out about revisions. Of course, I hoped an offer would happen, but I didn't want to hold my breath either.

I don't know why I was so nervous though. Louise was great to talk to and her ideas were terrific! I became so excited about how I could improve my story that I started brainstorming as soon as our call ended.

But before it ended, Louise offered me representation!! In all honestly I thought I was just hearing what I wanted to at first. She even repeated it later and all I could think was 'Is this real?' I think all I said was 'Okay' several times because I was so happy and shocked.

Seriously, afterwords I was afraid I hadn't sounded excited at all when really inside was was SQUEEING like a thirteen year old whose first crush just noticed her.

In fact, I was so excited that when I ran upstairs to tell my husband I *may* have fallen UP the stairs!

(And my hubby may have found this more hilarious than concerning)

After responding to other agents that had my manuscript and waiting a week, I was delighted to respond back to Louise accepting her offer. I felt right away that her ideas for my story were great and that we meshed really well.

And now I can officially say, I HAVE AND AGENT AND SHE IS AWESOME! YAAAAAYYYY!

Here is me, being a nerd and taking a picture signing the contract!

And in other news, if you lovely followers didn't already know, I have MORE wonderful stuff to share!!
I am also expecting my first baby! (This is in no way any less exciting, I've just already shared this news with the internet on most of my sites already!) SO LOTS OF  YAAYYYYS AND MORE SQUEEEING! :)

Catching Up!

How was everyone's holidays?! I've been super busy with family in and out of town since Thanksgiving, but it's been so great to see them! Now all my out-of-town family is gone and real work starts back up tomorrow. Which is good and bad.

"Bad" because, ya know, I have to get up at a regular time every morning again and since I'm not exactly what you'd call a 'morning person' this not something I'm looking forward to. I have very much enjoyed sleeping in and (yes, and) taking naps during this break.

It's good though because it gets me back on a regular schedule! You'd think I'd get more writing done when I don't have to work also, but it's actually the opposite for me--at least during my winter break when the hubby is off work too. (YAY!) And since he travels a lot right now, I'm greedy about spending time with him when I can. And then there's those family functions to do that come with the holidays. :) So I end up busy/distracted/lazy on my winter break.

But now I'm excited to get back to writing. I love the WiP I'm working on and can't wait to finish it. (Almost there!)

What about you guys? If you get breaks from work, do you tend to spend more or less time writing than normal? (Personally, since I work at a school, I can't wait for summer! I get to sleep in and have much more time where I usually get quite a bit of writing done!)

Anyway, hope you all had a great holiday and that you have an awesome 2013!!

And if you didn't know, ALTERED by Jennifer Rush came out today! Pick it up and you won't be disappointed! I loved this book. It's full of HotSmartDangerousBoys and action and intrigue and awesomeness. So check it out! And check out Jen on twitter (@Jenn_Rush). She's a pretty awesome person and super talented in SO MANY ways! So, start your new year off with a good book! What are you waiting for? :)

(Just look at that cover!)

Hilariousness

It's late and I should be sleeping right now, but since I can't I wanted to share a pretty awesome site with all of my followers that are also writers. It's hilarious. Lots of gifs and laughing. I promise. It's called Title To Come. And seriously, if you're a writer and haven't stumbled upon it yet, you have to check it out! Go on, smiling is good for you!!

Also, this is a little late, but I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! One of my sisters and her little family came into town and we had a great but busy (hence lack of posts lately) time with them! Loved it. And now, I hope you all stay safe and sane with the coming holiday season!
